AM's Week 20 Team

Kenny

Brown / Kaboul / Assou-Ekotto

Silva / Cahill / Modric / Van Der Vaart

Saha / Adebayor / Aguero

Consecutive sub-40 point weeks over the Xmas and New Year period has seen me drop out of the Top 1000 having previously been sitting in 480th before Week 18 began. Hopefully the team above containing 7 double gamers will give me a chance of moving in the right direction and a chance of progressing through to the next round of The Blog Cup.

I decided to keep David Silva @8 & Sergio Aguero @10 so that meant I couldn't find a way of getting a full-price Gareth Bale in, which could prove costly, but I'm hoping Tim Cahill and Louis Saha will pick up good returns against Bolton (despite having poor seasons so far) along with Rafael Van Der Vaart, Luka Modric, Emmanuel Adebayor and two Spurs defenders for their two home games. I dropped DDG and went with Paddy Kenny in goal as he's been tipped to return from injury and kept Wes Brown @3 as he has a chance of making tomorrow night's game.

Good luck to everyone this week, please let me know what you ended up with!

Cheers - Nik

My team

Nik, what do you think of my team?

Kenny
Vermalean Clark Ayala
VDV Valencia Ireland Modric Cahill
RVP Ade

Dropped DDG and replace him with Kenny, with the same reason as quoted by AM. Decided to keep Valencia and RVP due to discount. Keeping Vermalean even though he is out for 2-3 weeks. I am hoping that he is only out for 2 weeks which means that he might have a chance to come back the next game on Jan 15th. Can only manage to squeeze in 4 double gamers as RVP is eating up most of my fund.

that’s from week 18 to 19 right? the stat for week 20 isnt out

by strayjd on Jan 2, 2012 4:49 AM PST up reply actions

I am one of them.. :)
Looking at his performance recently, comparing with Lindergaad… if i were SAF, i would seriously consider swapping my #1 keeper…
btw, I am also still in the run for the 5th round of the Blog Cup, but not looking great since I only have 4 double gamers compare to those that have 6-7 players..

week 11

So what to do spurs are home again v wolves but manure have a tasty fixture v bolton. Had Valencia at discount but he’s gone now.. Be interesting tues night see what SAF goes with.. Liverpool home v stoke worth considering?

gerrard

already in your team, i am planning to BD him

by Pupus on Jan 2, 2012 5:33 AM PST up reply actions

make or break...

DDG
Verm brown rangel
Silva modric bale vdv sandro
Kun k2

Big risk leaving DDG in just think he has to keep playing or he’s finished at utd. Massive discount on Verm and missed heitinga on BD. Hopefully harry won’t rotate too much and midfield will pay dividends…

by Dtat on Jan 2, 2012 5:37 AM PST via mobile reply actions

I kept DDG as I still feel the arguments made for keeping him over the last 6 weeks are still valid. I think he’ll continue to start but will get rotated, but will still ultimately get me more points than rotating 5mill keepers each week based on match ups.

I’ve also kept brown and Verm at discount, with the spread of games I’m hoping they’ll only miss 2 games maximum. In addition I held silva and Aguero, but sold nani, Rooney and Valencia all at discount.

by Raconteur_ on Jan 2, 2012 5:38 AM PST via mobile reply actions

Agreed

I really hope Liverpool don’t appeal

by Nik Argiropoulos on Jan 2, 2012 5:49 AM PST up reply actions

Interestingly Liverpool have the least black players in the PL, now lets have this right I am not for one minute suggesting this if for any racial reasons, but what I am saying is I wonder if it has made it easier for Suarez and the support he has recieved.

Nik's Dilemma

As a Spurs supporter he will want the wins, and good one’s but I bet he hopes they win well with Gareth Bale missing both games with a bout of Man Flu.

My team.

DeGea
Brown / C. Clark / Heitinga
Gerrard / Bale / Silva / Ireland
Aguero / Rooney / Bellamy

Too many players at discounts to break up the side for a double game week, especially one with only one solid YFF side (Spurs) to choose from. But I think the two DGers I picked are good choices. I’m betting the old rules for DG weeks apply less this time around, with only two sides to pick from. I’m focusing on players instead of teams lately and the strategy seems to be paying off (#77 to #52 in my blog league in the last two weeks). But anything can happen, so good luck to everyone.

by billthegrunt on Jan 2, 2012 6:00 AM PST reply actions

Double trouble...

De Gea
Brown/ Walker/BAE
Bale/VDV/Cahill/Neville/Livermore
K2/Saha

I’ve gone with the rotation policy all season, with only Brown and De Gea at major discounts, so I let it ride. Neville and Livermore are of course fillers, but you never know…

I’m worried about rotation in the Spur’s lineup. It’s somewhat risky, but so be it.

So New Years.

Macheda

Signed with Qpr and will be available from today’s match. If he starts continuously he’s a steal at under two.

by J0J0 on Jan 2, 2012 6:15 AM PST via Android app reply actions

Absolutely

Would he pair up alongside Helguson, support him or rotate with him?

Yuk!

Kenny
Verm/ Heitinga / Walker
Bale/ VDV/ Valencia/ Ireland/ Cahill
K2/ Saha.

Not liking it a bit.
Really wanted to bring in Osman.

Drenthe?

So…he IS hurt? I couldn’t find anything definitive before the deadline (damned interwebs) so i stayed with him. And the zeroes begin again…

Interesting

to see the difference between Nik and Neal’s approach to DDG/Verm and the dbl week.
Also, what’s the final keeper fix cause it sure ain’t Kenny.

I’m going with;
Szcz,Brown,Clark,Baines,Silva,Gerrard,VdV,Rodwell,Aguero,K2,DeFoe
