Low scores. Get used to it?

From the untrained eye (mine), there just seems to be no real answer to these week in and week out low scores.

Normally, we all look to have that "balanced" team but almost without exception nearly every "top" team this year has gone with the same format. That is, defenders PLUS goal keeper are taking up on average less then 15% of our budget and in some cases less then 10% and you can count on one hand the number of times one of these teams went with a 4 defender plus goal keeper format. The reason for this seems clear. Unless you are willing to spend a minimum of 10 on a defender this year, there has been little to no chance of getting a decent return, and that too has been rare. Only those (holding) discounted defenders through injuries and rotation have benefited at all from these 4/11 players we have each week. An example would be one of the groups I happen to be in, AM Chat Regulars. I took an average score this week of the top 50 players in this group with #50 having a yearly score of 1770.50 points. This weeks average...62.50 points for those 50 players.

I am certain that unless we have a group of defenders stepping forward that even though they cost 10 or more begin to return their cost (plus) each week , we just may have to settle in and grind it out this season with 80, being our high bench mark for a weeks worth of points.
