The Barn Door Live - Sunday Edition
The first match today probably isn't going to have a ton of fantasy implication but we have to say that's not always a bad thing. We'll be here to chat if you just want to sit back and enjoy the match without having to count SOTs and CWs. We'll still be around to hang out and monitor our favorite Manchester City players as we see who will start at forward and whether David Silva can recover his form. The Spanish play-maker has been dipping in recent weeks and you have to wonder if he's tiring out after being one of the few ever-present players in City's line-up.

Interesting day yesterday.
Didn’t have to barndoor anyone because no one I wanted performed well enough to rise in price.
I want....
to gut my entire team after putting up just 34 points BEFORE Krul had 5 goals dropped on his head…ugh! 19.5 points with Kun & Bassong yet to play.
Mine is even worse dude. 11.5 points with Aguero,Silva and Bassong to go :D

Good afternoon everyone!

I'm french so please be indulgent about my English! I'm also a fan of RC Lens and Arsenal FC.

Good afternoon

I agree David
I BD’d Rooney for RvP and brought in Beaujesour (sp?) as a potential replacement for Oxlade-Chamberlain as a cheap and productive midfielder but really not a lot of changes to my line-up. (I actually kept Ox for now but wanted to be thinking ahead on the assumption he gets dropped for Gervinho)
www.NeverManageAlone.com
Quite bothered
by the output of a bunch yesterday…Ox did NOTHING, Vermaelen sucked YET AGAIN, 2.5 points between them, and Scott Sinclair got me a gooseegg needless to say that Krul was screwed yesterday…WTF!?
Good Evening,guys...here in Malaysia... =)
my team for week 25 (finalized) : Schwarzer..Onouha,Bassong,Woodgate..Ox,Dempsey,Siggy,Bale,Beausejor..Kun,Odem..good luck.!
wow, huge early save from Hennessey
and then another less huge one. He’s off to a big start in the first 2 minutes
www.NeverManageAlone.com
my points.. 35.5...
with Odem & Bassong (both start)..also Kun…dont know how it will end later.. perhaps a good thing.. =)

Afternoon all.
This is the big one for me. Coudn’t get a ticket (fool for even trying) and gigged late last night. Decided not to go down the pup coz I’m a proper Jonah watching with a beer. Massive 16.5 points for me yesterday.

Is getting tickets for Wolves that hard?
If so, I have to say I’m impressed with the supporters. Not many clubs that are struggling at the bottom of the table where it is hard to get tickets.

For the Black country Derby especially yes. Not so much for the non marquee games.

I agree
There should also be a specific stat for “Penalty Earned/Drawn” – if you look at what creates a penalty goal the drawing of the penalty is much harder than the taking of it.

BREAKING NEWS
Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has apologised for not shaking Patrice Evra’s hand before Saturday’s game at Old Trafford. Suarez told the Liverpool website: “I have spoken with the Manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong. I’ve not only let him down, but also the Club and what it stands for and I’m sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened. I should have shaken Patrice Evra’s hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions. I would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football.”

by uncleemperor on Feb 12, 2012 6:33 AM PST up reply actions
15 to 20 million pounds I'd guess
It would be more if he had longer to go on his contract but he’s out of contract at the end of 2012-2013. Same situation as Nasri was in last summer. The only reason it would be higher is if someone from Russia (or PSG) tried to tempt him to go somewhere that wasn’t a traditional power.
www.NeverManageAlone.com
by Neal Thurman on Feb 12, 2012 6:34 AM PST up reply actions
mostly depends on whether RvP announces he wants to leave
if Arsenal have the leverage of him wanting to stay, the number would be much higher. If he starts to play the same games that Cesc (or Henry when he left for Barca) played Arsenal would have little choice but to sell for what would seem a low number.

More kudos from an alternative viewpoint
It’s been a down week for most, but I’ll go ahead and throw in a positive note by saying I’m standing at 79.5 points for the week with Kun and Bassong (God, I hope he at least repays his cost) left to go.
I had gotten up to 304 overall despite having missed the first week of play. (Now I’m at 399.) And I give all the credit to Nik — I’ve been following his tips the past year and a half. (No offense, Neal — that’s just the way I’ve been going since footy isn’t covered all that well here in the US.) Otherwise, I’d be a bit clueless.
So, just throwing in another plug for you NMA guys on a mostly downer week…
Thanks
I never take offense at someone following Nik’s player picks over mine – they’re all here to help and we’re glad you’re getting something positive from the site.

You missed Ming and I (and others) talking about the LinSanity in yesterday's chat
I’m not a Knicks fan but I’m enjoying the story. Great to see a Harvard player doing well. Gives those of us who played basketball at primarily academic institutions (in my case Johns Hopkins) some hope.

I particularly enjoyed this story
Lin was so impressive, he caught the eye of Ryan Wittman, son of Wizards head coach Randy. The younger Wittman — a former Cornell basketball player who played against Lin while the Knicks star was at Harvard — sent his dad a text after the game that probably didn’t cheer him up.
“He told me that they did a much better job guarding him [at Cornell] than we did tonight,” the elder Wittman said. “Makes Dad feel good.”
Zozo (Week 25): Krul - Clark Wheater Kelly - Silva Oxlade-C Dempsey Siggy - RVP Aguero PCisse
"hope in this world"?
I love the story too but pls explain.
Zozo (Week 25): Krul - Clark Wheater Kelly - Silva Oxlade-C Dempsey Siggy - RVP Aguero PCisse
That there's hope in this world...
For a poor slacker who had to go to Harvard.
yeaps. that hard work and dedication does pay off. Keeps me inspired to know that i still can make it in this world.
I dont think it was hard work and dedication alone
The kid has talent. Getting into Harvard is a lot easier than being the starting point guard of the Knicks and scoring all those points and winning games.
Zozo (Week 25): Krul - Clark Wheater Kelly - Silva Oxlade-C Dempsey Siggy - RVP Aguero PCisse
Yeah, you hit on another chord.
We have to assume according to tradition, that since Lin is not just white but Asian white, that he has had to have made it on spunk (oops… I mean the American version of spunk) and hard work and um… Brains, of course, rather than athletic ability.
My sense on the "hope" comment...
…is that it will open the eyes of scouts and talent evaluators of all sorts to the potential of non-traditional looking players (in this case Asian-American) having a chance to be better than the stereotypes of that group. I’d also enjoy it if it started applying to Americans of all sorts playing soccer elsewhere in the world, etc.

I didn't know he had been California High School player of the year in his senior year
In most cases that would have meant being recruited to a big college basketball program but it seems likely that his ethnicity worked against him and he “ended up” at Harvard. Not a bad consolation prize I’ll admit but from a basketball standpoint a definite disadvantage

Yes, he'll start
Neither of those players play the same position he does. The big question is whether he’ll ever get to shoot the ball again – both of those guys tend to have the ball in their hands a lot.

I got rid of him for this week at a similar price figuring that vs Man United and then an off week PLUS Suarez being back made him a poor bet. I’d suggest you ditch him. Just hard to know what his starting status is.

Sorensen is an interesting option (home vs. Swansea)
Swansea are averaging less than one goal/match away from Wales and they’ve only scored one away goal against a good team (and they lost that one 4-1 to Chelsea).
Not guaranteeing anything but it sure looks promising. Their away goals have been against Rovers (2), WBA (2), Wolves (2), Villa (2), Norwich (1), and Chelsea (1). I see Stoke as better than most of those teams (except Chelsea of course).

Villa with 3 road clean sheets
Wigan have only been shut out 4 times but only one has been by a mid-table team (Fulham). Seems like a stretch based on how Villa are playing these days. Not a terrible risk but I like Sorensen more than Given on both price and likely output.

Here's a Dempsey-related question for you
If you were him, would you leave Fulham in the Summer for whichever club gets the 4th place spot (Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, or NUFC – although I’ll grant you Liverpool isn’t a good fit given their roster) to play a part-time role on a Champions League team or would you want to play more matches and stay just below the Champions League level?

In my mind, here's who he'd be fighting with for playing time
Arsenal – he’d be 2nd choice forward behind RvP and also taking the Arshavin (4th wide attacker) role.
Newcastle – he’d be 3rd in line behind Ba and Cisse at forward but ahead of Ameobi/Best/Lovenkrands and maybe in the mix as an attacking midfielder as well.
Chelsea – hard to know what’s going to happen with the CHE attackers but would be a great utility guy behind whichever super-expensive target man comes in and as a better version of Kalou.

Richards you can decide on later.
Not a lot
Manchester City CBs (Kompany and Lescott) are the only obvious choices. Hart’s price shouldn’t climb much. No one else from City were outstanding enough for their prices to rise. Zab and Kolarov aren’t guaranteed starters.
