Even if I were not an Arsenal fan, it would always be difficult to part company with a player who is both the top scorer in the EPL as well as the top point scorer in our Yahoo Fantasy Game. Yet with 1/3 of the season left to go, many of us have to make this difficult decision.
I note that many of the Top 50 teams still hold him. For them it would be tougher decision to drop since they are trying to protect their position and a lot depends on what the other teams do. Dropping RVP may prove to be the difference if others are holding him. On the other hand, if most others drop him, you may gain an advantage by holding RVP. You get the picture.
For the rest of us,the decision can perhaps be approached more logically.
The key points to note. Arsenal have a run of difficult games coming up. Even if RVP is held at a discount (I think many have him around 20+) it's hard to see him returning this value in the next 3-4 weeks given the tough schedule. Home to Spurs. Away to Liverpool. Home to Newcastle. Away to Everton (currently listed as postponed on Mar 17 - because of Everton's FA Cup match).
For me, the postponed match is the decider. I think it makes sense to drop RVP now and even if we have to pick him back for 30+, if we do this for his double game week, it would still be worthwhile.
So dear managers, please share your views since Hamlet is no longer around to help.
ps: Neal, it pains me to write his post too!
