Since I have my wild card, I have been playing around with my team already and a few ideas came to mind I thought I would share. Most importantly BUY CHEAP ITALIANS right now for your bench.
Firstly, a few people have asked how to play the wild card. On the main transfer page, you merely make however many transfers you feel appropriate. If you make more than 4, the main transfer page will start showing a points deduction for each transfer over your 4 free ones. I made 8 transfers (for now) and clicked the "Confirm Transfers Button". It then took me to a screen and WALA, there was a "Play Wildcard" button on that page. Click that button and you are free and clear from points deductions. Keep in mind that the beauty of the wildcard is that, if I don't like the 8 transfers I just made, I can go back tomorrow and do 8 more at no charge. And so on, And so on.
Since there is only ONE game in the finals (obviously), having functional/playing subs on your bench is not really helpful since you can't sub a player in that has already played. All the Portugal players have already been removed from the player lists, so my bench is currently filled with cheap Italian players, plus my Greek enabler carried over from my original lineup. I would suggest those of you who have the wild card available (and really even those who don't) to load up on cheap Itailian enablers before they vanish. Even if Italy DOES beat Zee Germans, it still will help to have these guys so you can afford the expensive Spain options.
Also, I assume there will be a price adjustment between now and Saturday, so if money is tight, it might be good to get your Fabergases and your other Spain guys before the prices go up. I realize they only go up in increments of .1 but .1 times 5 or 6 guys could be the difference between getting who you want and settling.
We will have the Spain/???? lineups well before the deadline on Saturday, so my plan is to keep cheap enablers on my bench and load up my starting lineup with guys that are playing. Money will be a problem, just as it was in the last round, but it SHOULD be possible to field a starting lineup of guys that start Saturday on the pitch.
Hope this was helpful.
