This has been a rough season so far for me, with so many consecutive weeks of poor showings. Thanks to the postings of billthegrunt on the top 50 player choices I (may) have found a way out.

It appears that I have been stuck in a "chasing loop" where I see a player like Bale who has a monster week and I feel if I don't grab him now I will never have him OR I have a player like Snodgrass at a good discount and I sit through some poor weeks in hopes for that next big score.

Both methods, I am finding out have a very low percentage of being consistent week in and week out.

Case and point. With only a very few exceptions the top players throughout the league grab & drop players regardless of discount or current price with only a few standouts. By position: Lloris, Vert, Cazorla and that's it. Some honorable mentions are out there but the main standout statistic is there are really no strikers on that list. The percentage is very low on any striker held by the majority of the top players that is even worth mentioning. Also, other then the above mentioned players the same applies throughout each position.

So, what does it all mean?

For me it shows a willingness to "play the game" on a weekly basis and be (smart) when it comes to players held for weeks on end. NONE by the way who are held by the top 50 exceed an estimate cost of around 2-6. Yes there are exceptions but for the most part only a very few hold players like a Suarez at say 20 for weeks on end. It is just not happening.

I had Suarez this week and he scored well. He has what appears to be a poor match up next game week and we have double games the week after. It is that reason I see no reason to hold him and I am currently working on picking according to match up. I have what appears to be a balanced team with a good deal of money to spare.

I am not saying discounts do not matter and EVERYONE would like a Cazorla at 5.....

but my focus from here is NOT to hold any player (at a high cost) just because I have him at a good discount or even more important because YOU may hold him at a good discount.
