Adebayor Amongst the Doubtful for Spurs

Tottenham face injury problems ahead of Newcastle clash:

Emmanuel Adebayor is a serious doubt after damaging his hamstring and is unlikely to play for fear of aggravating the injury. Redknapp told The Guardian Adebayor’s chances were "touch and go."

Niko Kranjcar and Vedran Corluka are also doubts, with the duo requiring scans to see if they will be fit for Sunday, and Sandro could also miss out after suffering a calf problem.

Redknapp also expressed concern over the number of hamstring problems midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has had since he joined the club.

The van der Vaart comments seems more a part of the back and forth between the player and manager about his best position and his willingness to play elsewhere than an indication that he'll miss the match at Newcastle.

What interests me more is that if Adebayor doesn't make the match - and the comments certainly lean in that direction - we'll like see VDV moved back inside, playing off Defoe as a lone striker. Newcastle have been very stingy this season, but I think VDV would be a smart gamble given an advanced role.
