AM's Week 8 Update

My Week 8 "Friday Night Work In Progress" Team
My Week 8 "Friday Night Work In Progress" Team

There's no need for me to cover the injury / team / suspension news this week as Neal has kindly dealt with all the major points you need to know about. Instead I thought I'd update you with what currently sits on my team page, and as you can see, for some unknown reason, I'm considering a 4-3-3 with Micah Richards or Angel Rangel as my 4th defender.

To be honest despite the fact I quite like the team above, I probably won't end up with that formation. Sacrificing a midfield slot for an extra defender can look like a stroke of genius if it results in an extra clean sheet, but it's far harder to predict that than the phantom attacking points picked up by attacking midfielders, so I'm likely to plump for the safer option. The chances are I'll switch either Jose Bosingwa or Richards / Rangel to Yohan Cabaye, Victor Moses or Aaron Ramsey in a 3-4-3, with Cabaye the most likely to come in as a set piece and penalty taker.

You'll see that at the moment I've decided to hang on to Sergio Aguero @6.5 but drop Emmanuel Adebayor @5.8. With both of them major doubts I couldn't afford to risk two goose eggs seeing as I'm well down the rankings, so while I'm still holding Adebayor behind the scenes he's probably going to be being sold. I'm not sure about you, but I've often found myself with a lot of spare cash left over this season, so if I decide I want him back @9ish for Tottenham's game at Blackburn next weekend, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. The same could be said for Aguero @10ish, and I suppose he has a tougher game with the Manchester derby in Week 9, so maybe I should keep Adebayor and drop Aguero? I'll probably sleep on that and make a final decision in the morning.

Aside from those uncertainties I'm happy with my team, which clearly has a strong Arsenal, Chelsea & Manchester City presence in Robin Van Persie, Daniel Sturridge, Frank Lampard, David Silva & Kieran Gibbs. It seems sensible to give Shaun Wright-Phillips another chance given the price I hold him at and the fixture he has, David De Gea is a long term investment & Dedryck Boyata is my handy filler currently averaging twice as many points as he cost in units.

So that's where I'm at right now ... what do you think I should do about my dilemmas regarding 4-3-3 / 3-4-3 / Adebayor / Aguero? How's your own Week 8 team coming along? Are you still in The Blog Cup, and if so, are you confident of progressing to Round 3?

Cheers, Nik (AM)
