Per SAF, Anderson is a doubt for Sunderland

which leads one to infer that Rooney will continue with his deeper midfield role

The more I think about this Rooney in midfield situation, the more Danny Welbeck appeals to me.  I had Chicarito last week and he scored well, but ONLY because he had the match winning goal.  If Chicarito doesn't get on the scoreboard, he doesn't score well in YFF.

Owen went off injured in the CL (not that I would pick him for YFF anyway) so that leaves Welbeck as a reasonably priced forward option.  I may slot him in and wait for more specific team news.

Keep in mind that Rooney will still be on penalties, but Sunderland has only surrendered 1 penalty so far this season so not sure you want to pay up for Rooney just on the hope of a penalty.  I would probably buy Nani at 18.xx over Rooney at 20.xx if I am looking to pay premium prices for a ManU midfielder.
