Updates From Yahoo

Red or Yellow, it should be only one.
Red or Yellow, it should be only one.

Some valid questions have been asked by our readers over the past few days so I have spoken to our contact within Yahoo and can confirm the following:

- The Yahoo team are investigating why Grant Holt was given negative points for a red card AND a yellow card after his sending off against Wolves. It's clearly a mistake so we're hopeful it can be rectified and if it is then Holt owners can expect an extra 3 points allocated to their weekly total.

- Another scoring error in the same game was applied to Matt Jarvis; he was awarded points for a goal and an assist despite the fact Wolves only scored 1 goal. Again this is been looked in to but it does appear that the Opta data fed to Yahoo for the Norwich City v Wolverhampton game contained some bugs, so hopefully these will be corrected.

- Re: The Week 31 "Double Week" for Swansea and Newcastle. As expected, I have been told that it will NOT be a double week and that the Swansea v Newcastle fixture will be moved in to Week 32 along with the rest of the Easter Weekend fixtures. This should be changed on the team page soon.

Week 30 was an appalling bad one for my fantasy team as I failed to break the half century mark and dropped 70 places down to 197th overall. This was thanks to red numbers for Djibril Cisse, Wayne Bridge, Javier Hernandez combined with poor showings from Gylfi Sigurdsson, Antonio Valencia, Junior Hoilett and John Ruddy (who I brought in for Brad Friedel on Saturday morning). A very frustrating and forgettable weekend, although Tottenham's point at Chelsea was a pleasant and unexpected surprise.

As for my barndoor work, I have the following sitting on my team page ...

Friedel, Ream, Smalling, Gibbs, Ben Arfa, Sigurdsson, Gerrard, Valencia, Jelavic, P.Cisse, Hernandez

... with 5.11 left in the bank. Carlos Tevez @ 6 will come in if the reports he's set to start end up being true but aside from that I'm still undecided as it's hard to call the fixtures this week with many of strong teams facing away matches at teams fighting for their lives. There is a good chance 4 or 5 of the players above won't make my final team but I'll get in to that in more detail in my Player Picks post on Thursday.

On that subject, I wanted to comment quickly on the criticism I received last week after posting a "budget" player picks post. One of the reasons Neal, Jeremy and myself initially decided to join forces is because we all have very busy work and family lives which take priority, so if there are occasions when one of us isn't able to post then we have the NMA team to keep the content coming. Last week was a difficult one for me but I posted what I could so you could see the players I was considering and get an update on my current team. Unfortunately it's the way it will be sometimes but I can assure all our readers that you will always get at least one full Player Picks or full The Week Ahead post every midweek (more often than not, both) along with an Injuries & Suspensions post every Friday afternoon.

I hope the information above helps. Let us know how you did in Week 30. Who came in on the barndoor?

Cheers, Nik
