Injuries and Suspensions

I can't say there was a great deal of enlightenment to be found in the team news today. There was a vague statement from Roberto di Mateo about some young players being blooded but no real indicator as to which ones (although that isn't deterring me from giving Lukaku a shot for 2.78).

There is some news that we already knew about Manchester United's back line (Smalling is out meaning Jones will start) and that Nigel de Jong is likely to start which seems to make Yaya Toure more interesting as an option. Not much word on who will start in the vacant wingback spots for Arsenal (with Bacary Sagna out) and Spurs (with BAE out and Danny Rose suspended - well, they say Gallas will deputize at LB but it isn't clear who will play CB).

It is important to note that Clint Dempsey is definitely out not that I'm imagining that many of you were banking on him against Spurs at the Lane.

For those looking at Manchester United againist their perennial whipping boys Sunderland, Chicharito is almost certain to start with Danny Welbeck definitely out. The issue there is that Chicharito hasn't been the same player he was last season and early this season for quite some time. I don't know if he is regressing to his mean after being incredibly efficient in front of goal early in his United career or if there's something just not right physically or mentally. Regardless of the reason, the downside with him is that he doesn't get phantom points so if he doesn't score, he isn't very useful.

That's about all I could find that was particularly interesting to me for my team selection.

Good luck and we'll look forward to seeing you on the chat on Sunday.
