Another day of matches yesterday and more up and down for your favorite blogger (at least I hope I'm your favorite blogger). I got a new badge in the UEFA game for having a better round than Freddie Ljungberg over Match Day 1 (apparently the bar was not exceptionally high). My Russians (Arshavin and Dzargoev) turned out to be the right choices but the rest of my picks (Plasil, Lewandowski, and Maniatis) were pretty much useless. In all honesty, Maniatis was selected to be bench fodder at a cost of 4.0 - the only reason he saw the field was the off chance he scored well combined with the fact that he played first and the rules of this particular game favor putting your bench players who play early in. You can sub them out with no consequences (as I have with all three of the guys above who didn't do anything) so why not give it a shot.
I have two guys going today - Anderson (again, I don't expect him to be my final answer but he plays before Buffon so why not take the chance?) and Ozil (who I currently have as my captain because Lewandowski didn't work out and, why not? If it goes wrong, I'll change it to Cesc for tomorrow). Very odd game, isn't it?
Who do you have going today? What do you think will happen with the individual matches? Holland really need a win but their results against Germany have not been promising. Denmark and Portugal is also fascinating - you'd think Portugal would be the favorite but Denmark qualified better and is coming off of beating Holland while Portugal looked every bit a team with some talent but lots of holes (mostly at forward where they haven't had a good answer in a long, long time).
