Taxi (To Chelsea) For Maicon?

Maicon's agent says his man fancies "a change of scenery" after almost 7 years at the San Siro.
Maicon's agent says his man fancies "a change of scenery" after almost 7 years at the San Siro.

Sky Italia are reporting that Maicon could be on his way to Chelsea, with the Blues currently negotiating with Inter Milan to wrap up a deal for the Brazilian full-back.

Maicon is widely regarded as one of the most consistent attacking right-backs in world football and his signature would help fix a problem that Chelsea have never really solved. Portugese duo Paulo Ferreira and Jose Bosingwa have both failed to make the position their own over the past few seasons, with Branislav Ivanovic preferred despite it being an unnatural role for the big Serb defender.

This would be another big statement of intent from Roman Abramovich after the Russian billionare financed deals for Marko Marin and Eden Hazard earlier in the summer and you have to say Chelsea are looking like title challengers if they can find a suitable replacement for Didier Drogba before the new campaign kicks off in August.

It would also be great news for fantasy football fans, specifically those who follow the Yahoo game, with Maicon likely to enter the game below 6.00.

What say you Chelsea fans - is he the improvement you'd be looking for? Are you concerned about bringing in another 30 year old? And do you think he'll be able to handle Gareth Bale if he does move to the EPL?
