The Sunday Mirror and Sky Sports News are both running the story that Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is looking to move on after 6 seasons at Anfield, with AC Milan interested in the Spanish stopper.
In the same story it is suggested that new boss Brendan Rodgers is looking at French No.1 Hugo Lloris - a rumour that initially surfaced via 10 Sport - with the paper claiming the Olympique Lyonnais man would be tempted by a move to Anfield if Reina does leave.
Two years ago I firmly believed Reina was the best goalkeeper in the Premier League (and he still has the best distribution) but his overall level has dropped since and he made a number of high profile mistakes last season during a difficult year all round on Merseyside. While his loss would seem to be a big blow to Liverpool it is a blow that could be significantly softened were a quality replacement brought in immediately.
As one the most exciting young keepers in Europe, Lloris would fit that description and at almost 5 years younger than Reina (who claimed in a recent interview that Liverpool are not the same club that he joined), it could actually end up being a positive move for the club as Rodgers looks to freshen his squad with one eye on the future.
How would our Anfield following feel about such a trade?
