It was a wild day yesterday, wasn't it? Stoke appear set to play with 5 center backs and 3 holding midfielders (or as they call it in many countries, rugby). Spurs have done a makeover going from Modric, van der Vaart, and Kaboul to Dembele, Sigurdsson, Dempsey, and Vertonghen with Lloris coming in as well. Manchester United was quiet while City splashed some serious cash on upgrading where it wasn't clear that they needed more players (did they need a 3rd right back in Maicon?). Liverpool and Arsenal both looked like they got to the end of the deadline with their business undone - Liverpool certainly seem to be a forward light and Arsenal could sure use a midfielder with some stature to anchor the little guys like Cazorla, Arteta, and (eventually) Wilshere.
Well, whatever you think of the moves for your favorite team, the window is closed until January and we can start in on the job of figuring out who is going to start and thrive and who is going to struggle. Looking past the international break next weekend to the next round of matches, here's what we find:
Norwich City v West Ham United
Arsenal v Southampton
Aston Villa v Swansea City
Fulham v West Bromwich Albion
Manchester United v Wigan Athletic
Queens Park Rangers v Chelsea
Stoke City v Manchester City
Sunderland v Liverpool
Reading v Tottenham Hotspur
Everton v Newcastle United
Looks like strong match-ups for Arsenal, Swansea, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Spurs while the Everton and Newcastle match-up looks like a tough one to buy in on.
