I'll be rooting for City in this one, for a couple reasons. The most important reason is that I would like for Liverpool to keep Arsenal in their sights heading into the new year, and a Gunners win coupled with a Reds loss would be detrimental to the title aspirations of my beloved club.
The second reason is because I'm one of the few fantasy managers without any Arsenal representation in my team. Dropping Ozil has proven to be a costly mistake as he's scored in both the matches since I took him out of my team, but I've accepted it, moved on and am hoping that David Silva can provide some semblance of the attacking returns we all know he's capable of now that he's back in the starting lineup for Manuel Pellegrini's men. Speaking of starting lineups, there are a few surprises in the Arsenal eleven, while City looks about as you'd expect:
Arsenal: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ozil, Walcott, Giroud
Bench: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Arteta, Rosicky, Cazorla, Gnabry, Bendtner
Man City: Pantilimon, Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Clichy, Fernandinho, Yaya Toure, Nasri, Silva, Aguero, Negredo
Bench: Hart, Lescott, Kolarov, Garcia, Navas, Milner, Dzeko
As for my own team, I couldn't resist the temptation of bringing Wayne Rooney in, and I've even gone as far as to captain him. I also went against my own hunch on Gerard Deulofeu because I couldn't shake the image of Romelu Lukaku celebrating at least one goal against Fulham, so here's what I ended up with:
McGregor, Oviedo, Luiz, Debuchy, Coutinho, Oscar, Ravel, Silva, Suarez, Lukaku, Rooney (c)
Bench: Barkley, Ward, Kelly, Gazzaniga
Who did you end up with and who will you be rooting for in today's matches? As always, good luck!
