This edition of Groundskeeping has fewer links than usual. I spent all day hiding away from the world so that I could watch the Champions League matches at night without knowing what happened. I thoroughly enjoyed Manchester United/Real Madrid - what a match! But at the end, leading into the broadcast of the Dortmund/Shaktar match, not only did they run the final score and goal scorers in the ticker across the bottom of the screen, but they showed highlights and the panel discussed the match! Why would they do that when they were showing the match not two minutes later?
Needless to say, I was furious. I vented through a series of foul-mouthed tweets, which I'll re-publish here for posterity:
Signing off so as not to ruin the big CL matches for myself. See you later tonight, internet. #COS bit.ly/hBkAEg

@foxsoccer how about you don't show the final score of the upcoming televised match before you, you know, televise it! #fuckyouFSC

I waited all day to watch the #CL matches and @foxsoccer RUINS IT with their stupid fucking ticker. ON THEIR OWN NETWORK! #fuckyouFSC
— Jeremy Spitzberg (@jspitzberg) March 6, 2013
Tip for @foxsoccer - don't run the final score of the game you're showing next BEFORE YOU SHOW IT. It ruins the suspense. #fuckyouFSC

2 own goals in the #CL today - Ramos & @foxsoccer. I know that b/c they just told me who scored in the game I'm about to watch. #fuckyouFSC

So not only did @foxsoccer give me the final score and goal scorers on a ticker, but they showed highlights and discussed the match... (1/2)

...literally minutes before broadcasting said match! All the good work @foxsoccer has done this season just UNDONE in amazing fashion. (2/2)
