Newcastle United have confirmed what we already knew - goalkeeper Tim Krul's season is over.
Tim Krul will undergo surgery on Monday after dislocating his shoulder in the Tyne-Wear derby last Sunday. The Club expects him to return to training at the end of July.
His deputy is Robbie Elliot, who is going for a buck in the Yahoo! game. He's cheap because he's had the misfortune of bad timing. Of course there was the disaster of a derby match at the weekend in which he gave up two of the three goals Newcastle surreneded to Sunderland. Before that he was in goal at Manchester City and shipped four. He was also in net for the Magpies' 2-1 defeat at Wigan.
Obviously Newcastle is struggling. But Elliot might be worth investment. He certainly is nicely priced. But at West Brom, home to Liverpool (who made Alex McCarthy look world-class, at West Ham and QPR, before hosting Arsenal on the final day of season - well, it might be value for (not much) money.
