In And Out, Shake It All About Part 1

A couple days after the league finished and the wheeling and dealing has begun. Costa in, Rio and Sherwood out, while Shaw and Cole may move ummmmm sideways?

JT negotiates the Costa deal mid match, what a guy. Chelsea will pay 32m while we may get him for just 6m

30 days until the World Cup kicks off bit there is time yet for a pre World Cup transfer blitz and it seems to have started.

Chelsea reported to be in talks over 32m fee for Diego Costa

The common thought is had Chelsea signed a top centre forward then they would have won the Premier League last season.  Jose is not one to make many mistakes and has looked to address the main weakness within a very strong squad early.  Should the signing go through they will start the season as many peoples tips to take City's crown.  Costa's stats for the 2013/14 season back the theory.

Games 34

Goals 27

Shots 94

On Target 54

MIns per Goal 109

Assists 3

Chances created 45

Brazilian born but available for Spain in this summers World Cup he isn't a flamboyant stereotypical Brazil forward.  At Atletico Madrid he played in a very well organised counter attacking side.  While not exceptionally fast or blessed with wonderful individual skill like a Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez etc he is not to be underestimated.  Costa is a leader of the line he creates space for other, is very good in the air and is a player on the rise.  He seems a very Mourinho forward, certainly his style matches Chelsea.  As Eden Hazard is finding it has to be Jose's way and Diego Costa seems a perfect fit.

Manchester United make rumoured bid of 27m for Luke Shaw

Utd fans will tell you Patrice Evra has been a fading player for a few seasons now and the club have made an attempt to prize Southamptons young star if the rumours are correct.  Shaws performances smack of a future star and it will be a case of finding the correct price and timing.  Ideally a further years progress at the saints would probably suit the player better.  But talent shines through so It seems Shaw will be moving on somewhere in the summer with United making the first move.

Liverpool linked with Ashley Cole

Liverpool are back in the big time with Champions League football and this move would make plenty of sense.  The defence cost Liverpool their first title in 24 years and Coles experience can only help.  Depending on your view of Glen Johnson it would allow ever developing Jon Flanagan to move across to right back or allow the young man to cover either fullback role the league game prior and after midweek Champions League matches.  Cole will not be short of offers but even at his age his attack minded style would suit Liverpool well.

Rio Ferdinand is not offered a new contract

After 12 years playing at Old Trafford Rio is moving on to pastures new.  Ferdinand signed for Manchester United in 2002 for a then world record for a defender £29m.  He says he is fit, well and looking to continue playing.  This has a move to the MLS written all over it.

Sandro is in the know

Finally as his players informed him Tim Sherwood has been released as Tottenham manager.  No surprises as Sherwood really was a stop gap until Daniel Levy could appoint yet another new manager in the summer.  Frank de Boar, Mauricio Pochettino and Rafa Benitez are the early favourites to take over.  They will need to think hard over this opportunity.  Spurs continue to act without a clear plan and switch from one manager to the next chasing the Champions League.  Failure to deliver next season could once again cost any of these trio their job come May 2015.  All though are a clear step up from Sherwood who needs to start from a lower level in and work his way back into Premiership management.

Lets have a quick poll as to who is the best fit to replace Sherwood at Tottenham.
