Capital One Cup Live Chat: Liverpool vs. Chelsea

Liverpool hosts Chelsea in their Capital One Cup semi-final first leg at Anfield in what will sure be another memorable Cup tie...

The 170th meeting between the two teams should be a cracker, as both meet at Anfield for the Semi-Final of the Capital One Cup. Both teams are in form, coming off away wins. Both teams will start their strongest line-ups, considering the importance of this game and the fact that there are no Premier League matches this weekend. One line-up question for Chelsea, however, is: will Thibault Courtois regain his spot in goal, or will Peter Cech keep his place between the posts?

The teams have met once already this season, with Chelsea escaping with a 2-1 win thanks to a Diego Costa's 67th minute strike. Realistically, Chelsea is a much stronger side and should win this game. Stranger things have happened, however, and this is why the games are played on the pitch and not on paper.

Martin Atkinson will be the man in charge, having refereed the 2006 FA Community Shield final between the two sides where Liverpool defeated Chelsea 2-1. Mr. Atkinson is not new to a bit of the Cup controversy, having awarded the so-called "ghost goal" to Chelsea in the 2012 FA Cup against Tottenham. Chelsea went on to defeat Spurs 5-1. Let us hope, however, that the game will be decided by the players and not by the referees, and may the stronger side prevail.

Who do you think will win? Do you think there will be any line-up surprises or will both managers field their "usual" starting 11?
