Fantasy Premier League player of the week: Everton midfielder Ross Barkley

For the fourth time this season, a player from the blue side of Merseyside earns POTW honors. Check out all the highlights from a magnificent performance from the England youngster.

One of the developing trends this season is that when Everton win, they win big. Romelu Lukaku, Steven Naismith, Arouna Kone and now Ross Barkley have claimed fantasy player of the week honors in the opening 13 weeks of the Premier League season.

Based on that statistic, you'd think the Merseyside club would be pushing for title contention, and yet they're sat in 7th place, 8 points behind leaders Leicester City. The problem for the Toffees, then, has been consistency. If Roberto Martinez can get his side regularly playing like they did against Aston Villa on Saturday, they'll be pushing for a Champions League place come the end of the season.

Barkley weighed in with two goals and an assist in the 4-0 victory at Goodison Park. While both goals were more opportunistic than spectacular, the fact that the attacking midfielder twice found himself the most advanced player on the pitch showcases a young man full of confidence. His assist to Romelu Lukaku, on the other hand, was a moment of pure magic
