Let's turn our attention to Wednesday's slate of Champions League action! Here's who we think will deliver today:
Goalkeepers
David De Gea (Manchester United, $3,900) - Today is a day to pay up for all the high priced keepers. There are no low-cost keepers who look to be a safe play for the potential 5-point bonus. United are at home paired with ½ odds to win the match via Paddy Power. Look for De Gea to get another clean sheet and secure the victory for Van Gaal against Memphis' former club.
Kevin Trapp (Paris Saint-Germain, $4,200) - David Luiz is in fact suspended for this match but this shouldn't scare anybody considering Marquinhos is his replacement. They are on the road in Zlatans native country of Sweden, expect Trapp and PSG to get the win they need to secure the group lead with a potential CS bonus.
Fernando Muslera (Galatasaray, $3,000) - Its never fun mentioning the top 3 names you see at any position so here's a gpp boom or bust for you. Atletico Madrid have not been the fierce Diego Simeone squad that we remember of last year. Madrid were shut out by FC Astana last champions league go around and have only scored 3 goals in their last 4 outings. If you want to take a flyer on a low owned keeper here's your guy from a "statistical" standpoint that could warrant a try or if you're forcing Ronaldo in there
Other options to consider: Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid, $4,400), Gigi Buffon (Juventus, $3,700)
Defenders
Juanfran (Atletico Madrd, $4,100) - No surprises here as Juanfran has consistently proven to be one of the most offensively talented left back's in the world. The Calderon will be a cauldron of emotion Wednesday and look for Juanfran to be supplying plenty of dangerous crosses all afternoon.
Fabian Johnson (Borussia Monchengladbach, $3,900) - Fabian is a God's favorite as he consistently attacks down the flank as well as playing very stellar defense, while most importantly repping the Yanks! Probably the most consistent and talented American-National player, Johnson will be playing a pivotal matchup against Sevilla today at home and we like his upside.
Dani Carjaval (Real Madrid, $3,400) - Both Sergio Ramos and Marcelo are out for Madrid today, leaving some very important cleats to fill. Carjaval has been extremely consistent and stellar all season long and we look for that to continue today against Shaktar.
Marcos Rojo (Manchester United $2,900) - Rojo has been somewhat inconsistent of late, however his finest form has come in the Champions League. Although there seems to be some minor turmoil at Old Trafford, Van Gaal has doe a very good job of keeping his team under control and they continue to win when they must. PSV are a very attacking team and we can easily see Rojo catching them on the counter attack today swinging in a lovely cross for Rooney to get on the end of.
Other options to consider: Diego Godin (Atletico Madrid, $3,700), Benoit Tremoulinas (Sevilla, $3,200), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus $3,100)
Midfielders
Angel Di Maria (Paris Saint-Germain, $7,500) - He is the highest priced midfielder for a reason. He provides a high volume of crosses, shots, and even shots on target. He'll always be around the ball looking to create chances for the likes of Cavani and Zlatan. Di Maria had a resounding effort in the reverse fixture (1G, 4S, 4SOG, 16C). Look for him to match these totals today.
Ever Banega (Sevilla, $3,700) - Banega starts in the engine room of Sevilla. He sits right behind Gameiro (starting Striker) and is very active between the high volume of creativity (not seen on the stat sheet) mixed with the crosses and shots. He is simply under valued at this price. Banega scored a goal against Real Madrid before the international break. Sevilla vs Borussia Monchengladbach should be a very free flowing match creating ample opportunities for both sides.
Koke (Atletico Madrid, $5,600) - Coming off a goal this weekend, Koke seems to finally be finding his form of old. His fantasy value is usually tied to his amount of crosses however as of lately he has been mixing in a few shots becoming a little more active. Look for Koke to feed Antoine Griezmann and Jackson Martinez hopefully racking up an assist or two.
Other options to consider: Juan Cuadrado (Juventus, $4,700), Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City, $5,500), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid, $4,700)
Forwards
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid, $10,200) - Yeah, yeah, yeah. You all saw this one coming! But ok, we learned our lesson yesterday with Messi, Ronaldo is simply impossible to fade. I don't care if he doesn't justify his price by dropping a hat trick and 45+ points, the fact that the entire world knows who he is simply means you can't afford to miss the bandwagon. As much as I hate to say it, pay up for Cristiano unless you love GPP lineups. Final note on CR7 however, supposedly he is very unhappy with coach Rafa Benitez and is trying to get him fired, so be on the lookout for nonsense.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG, $8,300) - Not to start this article off with the guys at the top of the list, but Zlatan is back in his childhood home of Rosengard and playing against his first professional club! I will be plugging him into every lineup today and expect a very big game.
Wayne Rooney (Manchester United, $7,700) - As a humongous Liverpool supporter it's very hard for me to list Rooney this high up on our Striker list, however as previously mentioned PSV is a very offensively talented team, not so much defensively, especially away from home. Look for in-form Rooney to lead his Red Devils to a very important home victory in what will undoubtedly be a very raucous home fixture.
Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid, $6,500) - Griezmann was easily the best player for Atletico last season and has been eyed out by virtually all of the giant clubs across the globe with his fantastic goal-scoring presence. After a very sad and tragic weekend for his country, France, Griezmann is the God's play of the day. He will be playing with a heavy heart in front of a stadium bubbling with passion and excitement. ROSTER THIS MAN!
Yevhen Konoplyanka (Sevilla, $4,500) - This man is in epic form, simply put. Sevilla beat Real Madrid before the International Break and Yevhen was supplying assists, shots, crosses, and plenty of positive productivity. Perfect pairing with an expensive striker like Cristiano.
Other options to consider: Memphis Depay (Manchester United, $7,200), Jackson Martinez (Atletico Madrid, $6,700), Alvaro Morata (Juventus $5,400).
Utility
Luuk de Jong (PSV, $4,600) - Manchester United have a very short back-four and PSV love to send in dangerous crosses to their giant striker. Luuk is very underrated and even lesser known, very sneaky GPP goal-scoring option.
Jesse Lingard (Manchester United $2,700) - Van Gaal has been consistently calling Lingard's number into the Starting XI and boy has the young man shined. He isn't known for his crosses but more for his shots and shots on target. In his last 3 games, the young man has taken 10 shots (5 on target), racking up a goal and an assist. If he's a starter don't be afraid to play him. He's the definition of a nice little cheap flex play with high amounts of upside.
Other plays to consider: Paul Pogba (Juventus, $5,100), Isco (Real Madrid, $4,400), Kevin Gameiro (Sevilla, $3,900)
