Fantasy Premier League player of the week: West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini

While it was a relatively low-scoring week from a fantasy perspective, the Hammers midfielder put in a fantastic display against Everton and earns player of the week honors for Week 12.

Much of the focus surrounding West Ham United's excellent start to the season has been on Dimitri Payet, and rightly so, but another newcomer to the London squad has been making waves recently to much less fanfare: Manuel Lanzini.

The Argentine attacking midfielder is on loan from Al Jazira Club of the UAE League, though given his recent performances in the Premier League Davids Gold and Sullivan should be doing everything in his power to secure his services on a more permanent basis.

Lanzini has now scored against both Merseyside clubs, and while his third-minute strike against Liverpool in August was solid, his opener against Everton this weekend was nothing short of spectacular. On the half-hour mark in the match, Payet sprayed a pass to the right flank for Victor Moses, who controlled well and unleashed a shot that was blocked by Gareth Barry. The ball bounced around in the box and kicked out to the top of the key where Lanzini took a touch to settle before curling an audacious effort into the far post upper 90 past Tim Howard.
