Week 17 Fantasy Premier League Bargains

With the crowded fixture list of the holiday season fast approaching, it's time to try to maximize our fantasy team budgets. While we all want to load up on the top players, we need to find those diamonds in the rough that can provide terrific value at a low cost. Here are some players to keep an eye on for Week 17 as you finalize your lineup choices.

While Vardy and Mahrez get all the glory, Albrighton provides great value in a high-powered offense.

With a weekend full of important and entertaining matchups, we cannot forget about the little guys in the Premier League. I don't mean the teams in the relegation zone, but rather the players who provide vital points towards our weekly success as fantasy managers.  As you look to fill out your lineups for this weekend's slate of matches, here are some low-cost, high ceiling players that you should consider for your teams in Week 17!

Goalkeepers

Wayne Hennessey (CRY) -- 4928 on Fantrax, 4.0 on BPL

Crystal Palace face off at home this weekend against a Stoke City team that have scored a total of 13 goals in 16 matches. Hennessey had a clean sheet performance last week, and is a great bet for another this weekend.

Robert Elliot (NEW) -- 3158 on Fantrax, 4.0 for BPL

This is an important match for Newcastle, who take on the team sitting at the bottom of the table. Aston Villa have 12 goals this season, and Elliot should have a terrific outing at home.

Defenders

Ryan Shawcross (STK) -- 5926 on Fantrax

Stoke City have recorded five clean sheets in the last six weeks, including two in a row. While Crystal Palace are a difficult matchup, we could easily see the visitors record yet another shutout.

Joel Ward (CRY) -- 4.4 on BPL

Yep, I'm big on the Crystal Palace defense this week. Stoke just don't score a lot of goals, and Ward is a great value. He won't score as many points as teammate Scott Dann, but he will cost significantly less, with a very real shot at a clean sheet.

Danien Delaney (CRY) -- 4.4 on BPL

Hey, another Crystal Palace defender at less than 4.5 points! See the previous entry for why you should consider him in your team.

Angelo Ogbonna (WHU) -- 4.9 on BPL

The Hammers look a very solid bet for a third consecutive clean sheet, and the Swans have one draw and five losses in their last six matches. Grab him now, because next week they take on Aston Villa, which is a nice little back-to-back for fantasy owners.

Midfielders

Junior Stanislas (BOU) -- 5374 on Fantrax

Three goals in three matches has this player moving up. Bournemouth have scored eight goals in the past four matches and West Brom are not the best side defensively. While it is an away match, they are high on confidence after defeating Chelsea and Manchester United.

Jordan Henderson (LIV) -- 4567 on Fantrax

After he has missed most of the season through injury, he returned last week and recorded a goal and an assist. A main cog in the Liverpool machine, they travel to Watford this weekend, followed by a slate of matches that lend themselves to the English midfielder being able to record some solid numbers. His price will absolutely go up, so get him for cheap while you can.

Michail Antonio (WHU) -- 1739 on Fantrax

Anytime you can get a return of five ore more points while spending less than 2,000 on Fantrax, you're getting a bargain. Last week, however, Antonio dropped 12 points for owners. He is starting to get more involved in the Hammers attack with the loss of Dimitri Payet, and he's not a bad player to look at while facing an awful Swansea team.

Joshua King (BOU) -- 4.6 on BPL

With two goals and an assist in the last four matches, King is on a roll, as is the Bournemouth offense. With 25 points in the official game over that time frame, he is providing a solid return for less than 5 points. Look for him to continue that streak this weekend against West Brom and deliver another solid performance.

Marc Albrighton (LEI) -- 4.9 on BPL

Everyone talks about Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, but Marc Albrighton has been a vital piece of the high-powered Leicester City attack. He has delivered an assist in each of the past two matches, and if the Foxes are to defeat Everton this weekend, he will likely play a key role. At under 5.0 salary, he is a very solid piece of the Leicester City team to have if you cannot afford the big two.

Forwards

Divock Origi (LIV) --1346 on Fantrax

After scoring a goal off the bench last week and having shown some promising play, there are whispers that he will get the start this weekend. If so, he is a steal at less than 1500 as Liverpool faces off against Watford.

Troy Deeney (WAT) -- 5.2 on BPL

Yes, Liverpool are playing well, but so is Watford. And Watford is at home this weekend, with Deeney being in great form. He continues to be involved in nearly every goal, and presents a great value at his cost.

Mauro Zarate (WHU) -- 5.3 on BPL

Again, it's the Hammers against a crap Swansea side. The forward has been in great form as of late, and he is a good value for a goal or an assist--or maybe both. Throw in the fact that they have a pretty decent fixture list coming up, and he is a terrific value.
