With the two-team double week, plenty of fantasy managers--myself included--decided to load up on players from NYRB and Colorado. In my haste to get my transfers for the week in, though (drafting Dillon Powers and Axel Sjoberg into my side at the expense of Bobby Burling and Harry Shipp), I forgot to actually set my lineup for the week.
I had planned on captaining Bradley Wright-Phillips, and including Sjoberg and Dominique Badji in my starting lineup. Unfortunately, I'm stuck instead with Kei Kamara and Hernan Grana, with the captain's armband on the Crew striker for their tough match away against D.C. United.
I'll be keeping an eye on the Columbus lineup tomorrow to see if Grana gets the start. If not, I'll bypass activating my manager substitutions in the hopes of Sjoberg taking his place in my starting 11. If Grana does get the nod, though, I'll most likely be stripping Kamara of the captain's armband and moving it to Benny Feilhaber for his much more attractive (on paper, at least) match at home against Chicago Fire.
Had I made the moves I had intended to, I would be on 39 points from the first match rather than the 27 I'm currently showing, which is a bit painful but nothing I'm too upset about. I'm still getting the hang of this new game, as I'm sure many of you are, so I'm chalking it up as part of the learning curve and moving on.
Tonight will see a double-header in the league, as Houston Dynamo will host FC Dallas before Real Salt Lake look to get over their tough loss last time out as they face San Jose Earthquakes.
How is your team doing so far? Were you able to make all the changes you wanted to? Who are you keeping an eye on for next week? Keep in mind there will be double weeks for Houston, RSL, San Jose and the LA Galaxy. Let's chat!
