For yet another week, we've got Manchester United taking to the pitch in the first match of the round, this time facing off against Newcastle. The early starts have worked well so far for the Red Devils, resulting in consecutive 1-0 victories. They'll be hoping for the same against the Magpies, who have had mixed fortunes so far.
We'll get an opportunity to see the Bastian Schweinsteiger / Morgan Schneiderlin midfield pairing from the onset this week, with Louis van Gaal keeping the same squad that won against Club Brugge in Champions League action. Steve McClaren is ringing the changes for Newcastle, however, with three changes. Two are enforced, as Steven Taylor comes in for the suspended Darryl Janmaat and Ayoze Perez is introduced for the injured Moussa Sissoko, but we'll also see Alexander Mitrovic get his chance to make an impact in the starting lineup over Papiss Cisse.
The summer striker signing has gotten off to a shaky start with Newcastle, being booked shortly after coming on in both matches he's played as a substitute and not really doing much else. Given that Cisse scored in the opener and has generally looked promising, it's a surprising decision from McClaren to drop him.
What are your predictions for the match? Which fantasy players do you have in this one? After the early match, stick around for another five Premier League fixtures taking place simultaneously. Here's who will be in action a bit later today:
- Crystal Palace v. Aston Villa
- West Ham United v. AFC Bournemouth
- Sunderland v. Swansea City
- Norwich City v. Stoke City
- Leicester City v. Tottenham Hotspur
