Another weekend is in the books in England's top flight, but that doesn't mean the action is over just yet, as Arsenal and Liverpool are set to face off at the Emirates today. Both sides will have top 4 aspirations and, given the strong starts by competitors Manchester City and Manchester United, both teams will be eager to get a result.
For Arsenal, a victory would bring them back within striking distance of league leaders City, though a draw or defeat would leave them languishing mid-table with fellow London club and last season's champions Chelsea. Liverpool, on the other hand, can draw level at the top of the table with a win to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
Despite the results so far, most fans and bookies are tipping the Gunners to win at their home ground. Given recent results when the two clubs have faced off, that's not too much of a stretch, though the Reds will be hoping they can rediscover the scintillating form that saw them 5 goals up at half time (admittedly, that took place at Anfield).
From a fantasy perspective, things have been a bit hit-or-miss. Liverpool defenders have been sound investments so far given their back-to-back clean sheets, but only Christian Benteke and Philippe Coutinho have delivered in attack and only in one match each. Arsenal's big-name summer signing Petr Cech was widely selected from week 1, but the two-goal loss against West Ham United has left many fantasy managers frustrated or eager to ship the keeper out of their teams.
The midfield battle will play a major role in either side's chances for victory. Alexis Sanchez appears to be rounding into form just in time for the crucial clash, and could be a key factor in the match for Arsenal. Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is a major doubt with a foot injury, so it's likely Brendan Rodgers will turn to either Emre Can or Lucas Leiva to deputize for the skipper.
