Rejoice, football fans, for the Champions League is back. Unfortunately, three out of the four English teams are going into the competition not in the best form:
Arsenal: away to the Croatian champions, Dinamo Zagreb, Arsenal is perhaps the best prepared English team out of the bunch. Finally beginning to hit its stride, the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, and Santi Cazorla, will be too much for Zagreb's defense to handle. Verdict: Arsenal wins.
Chelsea: the match-up looks great on paper. We all know, however, that the games are played on the pitch and Chelsea is terribly out of form. Known more for its outstanding basketball team, Maccabi Tel-Aviv is back in the group stages of the competition for the first time in 10 years and will be looking to prove their worth. Verdict: a very tough Chelsea win.
Manchester City: with Sergio Aguero out of this game, City will be hosting the Italian champions relying on their midfielders, particularly the fit again David Silva and Raheem Sterling. Whether they have enough to break down Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini remains to be seen. Verdict: a draw.
Manchester United: Wayne Rooney misses out again and Memphis Depay returns back to Eindhoven. PSV has a talented young squad that scored 14 goals in its first 5 Eredivisie games compared to just 6 goals for the United team in as many games. Verdict: PSV wins.
We will be bringing you the line-ups and live commentary from today's and tomorrow's matches. What are your thoughts on the outcome for the Premier League teams? What players do you like to score?
Sani.
