Week 34 Premier League Injuries and Suspensions

New, comments

We turn our focus to our last piece of injury and suspension update before the deadline for Week 34. With some major doubts surrounding some important players, it will be crucial to make sure your fantasy side won't be adversely affected should said players fail to be fit. Let's discuss which players you should avoid and which players may be a risk for Week 34!

Out: Fantasy-relevant players who have been confirmed out for the week, either through injury or suspension

Doubt: Players facing the dreaded fitness test, rotation concerns and those who are out of form/favor

In: The likeliest replacements for the Outs & Doubts or those returning from injury

Win: Fantasy player to watch / my hunch pick of the week

__________________________________________________________________________________

Arsenal

Out: Alex Oxlade-ChamberlainJack Wilshere, Rosicky, Santi Cazorla, Mathieu Debuchy

Doubt: Mathieu Flamini

In: Petr Cech

Win: Alexis Sanchez/Mesut Ozil

Take your pick, but one is a must this week as Arsenal face two very winnable matches in short succession. A bit more of a mystery is why Cech has been warming the bench after being declared fit the past two matches. Wenger hasn't made any concrete decisions, but after conceding 3 to West Ham, the former Chelsea shot-stopper is likely to return to the fold.

Aston Villa

Out: Jordan Amavi, Gabby Agbonlahor

Doubt: N/A

In: Alan Hutton (returns from suspension)

Win: Jordan Ayew

Hardly any player to get excited about in this woeful Villa side, but Jordan Ayew has been the only flickering light in what has been a disastrous season. To put that in perspective he is Villa's leading scorer with just 6 goals.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

AFC Bournemouth

Out: Benik Afobe, Harry Arter

Doubt: Junior Stanislas, Callum Wilson (returning from injury)

In: Lewis Grabban

Win: Max Gradel

Gradel has returned from injury at the right time for the Cherries to focus on finishing as high up the table as possible. Callum Wilson will need more time to work on his fitness before he can be thrust in the starting 11 from kick off.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Chelsea

Out: Eden Hazard, Loic Remy, Nemanja Matic, John Terry, Kurt Zouma

Doubt: Gary Cahill, Willian

In: Diego Costa (returns from suspension), Baba Rahman

Win: Diego Costa

The defending champions will be boosted by the return of Diego Costa to the starting line up having sat out the previous 3 matches with suspension. The match up won't be easy however, as the Blues face Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Needless to say, the volatile Spanish born Brazilian will cause City's back four all sorts of problems.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Crystal Palace

Out: James McArthur

Doubt: Dwight Gayle, Connor Wickham (match fitness)

In: Emmanuel Adebayor

Win: Emmanuel Adebayor

Pardew has some striker concerns with Dwight Gayle a doubt for the clash against Arsenal and Connor Wickham not yet ready to complete 90min. This could mean Adebayor starts against his former club, and who wouldn't back the Togo striker to score against his old side who just gave up 3 goals at West Ham?

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Everton

Out: James McCarthy (suspended), Tom Cleverley

Doubt: Darron GibsonLeon Osman, Ross Barkley, Leighton Baines, Romelu Lukaku, Aaron Lennon

In: Muhamed Besic, Gerard Deulofeu

Win: Joel Robles

Hard to get excited about any Everton player, especially given the injury doubts surrounding the Toffees major players. Robles was the only Everton player to come out of last week's double matches with a decent return having 1 shut out and 10 saves. Better to stay the course with who you already have than buying in for this week given the amount of doubts.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Leicester City

Out: N/A

Doubt: N/A

In: N/A

Win: Jamie Vardy

Leicester City are in the home stretch, no need to make rash decisions now. Luckily for Claudio Raineri, his Foxes aren't facing any new injury concerns and he will be able to field an unchanged side (like most of this season). Jamie Vardy reminded us last week of his goal scoring prowess, bagging a highly important brace against Sunderland.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Liverpool

Out: Jordan Henderson, Emre Can (suspended), Christian Benteke

Doubt: Sheyi Ojo

In: Joe Allen, Divock Origi (maybe)

Win: Firmino

Many fantasy managers will be placing their faith in Liverpool's main Brazilian, Coutinho, but with Firmino fully back to action and getting minutes against Dortmund, we have another option. Call it a hunch, but I see Firmino out scoring Coutinho this week.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Manchester City

Out: Raheem Sterling, Vincent Kompany

Doubt: David Silva

In: Samir Nasri, Fabian Delph, Kevin de Bruyne

Win: Sergio Aguero

No need to screw about here, Aguero is simply the man to have from City's line up.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Manchester United

Out: Bastian Schweinsteiger

Doubt: Ander Hererra, Wayne Rooney (match fitness)

In: Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Morgan Schneiderlin

Win: Anthony Martial

Rashford has been getting more of the plaudits recently, and rightly so. But with Rooney's return imminent, Martial gives the safer option of minutes for the upcoming matches. Martial will also hold penalty duty until Rooney returns, giving the Frenchman the edge over the bright youngster.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Newcastle

Out: Fabricio Coloccini, Rob Elliott, Daryl Janmaat, Tim Krul

Doubt: Steven Taylor

In: Paul Dummett, Colback

Win: Aleksandar Mitrovic

There is little time for Newcastle to turn their season around, but mathematically they can still make a great escape from relegation. Mitrovic has emerged as the main goal threat and must return the faith Benitez has paced on his young shoulders.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Norwich City

Out: Alexander Tettey

Doubt: Timm Klose, Russel Martin

In: Sebastian Bassong

Win: Steven Naismith

Norwich still face the possibility of relegation, Naismith is certainly their most experienced goal threat and the Canaries will need him to perform in a crucial encounter with Sunderland in Week 34.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Southampton

Out: Charlie Austin

Doubt: N/A

In: Shane Long, Dusan Tadic

Win: Graziano Pelle

The Saints striker has been finding his goal scoring feet once again, with 4 goals and 3 assists in his last 4 matches. If anyone will give the Everton defense a run for their money, it will be the Italian.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Stoke City

Out: Jack Butland, Glen Johnson, Marc Wilson, Walters

Doubt: Marc Muniesa, Marko Arnautovic, Glenn Whelan

In: Ryan Shawcross, Xherdan Shaqiri

Win: Bojan Krkic

The former Barca forward scored the consolation goal in Stoke's 4-1 capitulation against Liverpool. However that is 2 in 2 for Bojan even if Stoke face high flying Spurs in Week 34.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Sunderland

Out: Duncan Watmore, Emmanuel Eboue

Doubt: N/A

In: N/A

Win: Jermaine Defoe

The former Spurs and Portsmouth striker has been crucial to Sunderland's campaign this season. All hopes of survival are now resting on his goal scoring ability, which has produced 12 important goals. With a Sunderland double week also in the near future, fantasy managers should be aware of what Defoe can offer their teams.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Swansea City

Out: N/A

Doubt: N/A

In: N/A

Win: Gylfi Sigurdsson

No need to cover it here, Siggy is simply the man in form for Swansea and one of their most important players. Newcastle beware.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Tottenham Hotspur

Out: Nabil Bentaleb

Doubt: N/A

In: Erik Lamela

Win: Harry Kane

Stoke should be very, very afraid of what Kane can do to them after blanking against United last week.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Watford FC

Out: N/A

Doubt: Capoue, Ekstrand

In: Holebas

Win: Odion Ighalo

Not the fashionable pick he was earlier in the season and Watford will have one eye on their FA Cup semi-final. However, Ighalo has a run of fixtures in which he can re-open his scoring campaign, regardless if Watord ultimately wins or not.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

West Bromwich Albion

Out: Chris Brunt, James Morrison

Doubt: N/A

In: Salomon Rondon

Win: Craig Dawson

Two matches coming up for the Baggies and with better options in the midfield/forward slots in the other double matches, there is only so much room for West Brom investment. That being said, a good place to look is in defense with Craig Dawson, who has 3 goals already this season.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

West Ham United

Out: Sam Byram, James Collins

Doubt: Winston Reid, Alexandre Song

In: James Tomkins

Win: Dimitri Payet

He is the must have from West Ham's attacking force this week, no questions. Antonio represents another option for those with less budget to spend.

Good luck with your team selection for Week 34!
