Five weeks into the Premier League season and I’m already speculating on how the table will shake out in May. It’s been incredibly exciting to watch the early stages of the season, particularly for fans of Manchester City. Given their performances so far under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, it’s hard to imagine the Citizens not leading the title charge throughout the season. Also impressing are the Merseyside clubs, Chelsea and—surprisingly—Watford.
As excited as I am to watch the action and see what is on the horizon this week, I’m finding it difficult to get excited about the status of my fantasy squads, which have been on a trajectory more akin to Southampton or West Ham than Arsenal or Tottenham.
The good news is, like the Saints and the Hammers, I know there’s the potential to turn things around, and I’m feeling good about the teams I’ve selected for Week 6:
Official FPL (Wildcard Active)
Pickford (Jakupovic)
Holebas, Stones, Lovren (Friend, Amat)
Sanchez, Firmino, Sterling, Bolasie, Capoue
Aguero (c), Deeney (Costa)
I’m feeling a bit anxious with Costa on the bench, but I’m nervous about him picking up a yellow card, or worse, getting sent off against rivals Arsenal. A last-minute swap bring him into my lineup isn’t out of the question, however.
Fantrax
Bravo
Clyne, Coleman, Kelly
Bolasie, KDB, Hazard, Pereyra
Aguero, Lukaku, Firmino
A few differentials may be just what I need to get my season on track, and Clyne and Pereyra could be just what the doctor ordered. I’ll have my eye on the likes of Loris Karius, David Luiz, Alvaro Arbeloa and Alexis Sanchez heading into Week 7.
How have your teams wound up this week? Who is on your watchlist? Let’s chat!
