Welcome back from international football, friends! Let's substitute nights in Couva for afternoons in Liverpool (the scheduling gods are wonderful).
I've been preparing this past week for my annual NBA fantasy draft, and like those of you who have used your wildcard during the break, I want to see instant success from those I select. Gameweek 8 presents us with the tricky fixture at Anfield, but there are some tempting games where we can look to amass a huge score.
Midfielders
Pascal Groβ (£5.7, Brighton vs Everton)
Everton have been a disaster defensively, and we need low cost producers to help us afford some of the upcoming names.
Dele Alli (£9.5 Tottenham vs Bournemouth)
Seems like we're being "catfished" by someone pretending to be capable of 18 goals. The real Alli will show up when we least expect him.
Leroy Sane (£8.3), Raheem Sterling (£7.9, Manchester City vs Stoke)
The real answer here is any City attacking player, but Stoke is strong in the middle so I've gone for the men coming in from the wide areas.
Eden Hazard (£10.5) Pedro (£7.9, Chelsea at Crystal Palace)
I'll keep this short: three goals is my minimum expectation for the current champions. Hazard is the choice if you can afford him, Pedro if you just have to fit in some Chelsea coverage.
Forwards
Jamie Vardy (£8.6, Leicester vs West Brom)
In form reminiscent of the title winning season, Vardy is a definite option for using our available Morata funds.
Harry Kane (£12.7, Tottenham vs Bournemouth)
Surely the favorite for the armband this week.
Tammy Abraham (£5.6, Swansea vs Huddersfield)
Huddersfield were overpowered before the break by a tall powerful English striker. It could happen again if this low budget option took notes.
Gabriel Jesus (£10.5, Manchester City vs Stoke)
I tried hard not to add a third City player, but Jesus looked extremely sharp for Brazil. The news that Aguero may return sooner than expected should not be a concern this week.
Game week 7 was my weakest to date. We could not have asked for better fixtures to turn things around this time out. Do you see these players as sure things in game week 8? Who else looks GW8 (gw-eight) to you? Let us know in the comments below!
