The final matchday of the Champions League group stages is here as Europe’s best settle their respective fates over the next couple days. For fantasy managers, it’s the last chance to make some headway in mini leagues.
Given a clean slate next, the last round of the group stage always provides a unique opportunity for managers to make creative, one-off moves with no lasting consequences.
If you still have your wildcard, then you can have a lot of fun with what works out to be a veritable free hit. You can stack your team with players worthy of a punt based on their teams’ individual situations.
A great tactic is to wait until the Tuesday lineups are published to cherry pick the likely performers off the beaten path. I am keeping an eye on the teams that already qualified, that might give starts to fringe players and players who may have a point to prove eg. Rashford, Mkhitaryan, James, Pedro, Suarez, Draxler, Bernardo.
I also have my eyes peeled for any team that needs a crucial win to secure qualification. Their star players will need to take care of business eg. Salah, Coutinho, Insigne, Griezmann, Dzeko, Ben Yedder, Aboubakar.
