The final week of the season is often a sad time for many a football fan. With no summer international tournament to keep our attention it will be a long summer. Still we can all go out with a bang and some of us still have blog leagues and private leagues on the line.
Just like the opening weekend the final weekend of the season can be very unpredictable. An obvious tactic could be to bet on those sides with more than pride to play for. Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal will decide the final two Champions League places and you may wish to load up on player’s from them. Elsewhere the risk of rotation is high but there may be a few picks with some logic attached.
Petr Cech
Arsenal have won 10 or the last 12 home games and Its 4 clean sheet in a row at home.
Thibaut Courtois/Asmir Bergovic
Keep an eye on Contes press conference. Whoever starts faces a Sunderland side that has failed to score in 10 of their last 12 games. With Berg playing against Watford it looks like Courtois will get the vote.
Hugo Lloris
No goal in 3 games for Hull and Spurs are a tight defensive side. Very solid chance of a clean sheet here.
Joel Matip
Liverpool have 4 clean sheets in 5 and home to Boro looks a perfect game to improve the stat even more.
David Luiz/Gary Cahill/Marcos Alonso
With the Chelsea backup defence letting in 3 on Monday night, the season long rearguard will return for the end of season title winning celebrations. Clean sheet’ seems very likely and all can pop up with a goal.
Toby Alderweireld
Toby is a rock of a defender and way overdue a goal. Clean sheet and the goal double is very possible here.
Ben Chilwell
The young left back has taken his chance for Leicester City and even popped up with a goal against the powerful Totteham defence. He will start again and score well for his price.
Pedro/Cesc Fabregas
Pedro also got a rest against Watford and should start on Sunday. Conte has got the best out of the Spanish multi title winner and he will be involved in much of Chelsea’s attacking play.
Conte has also got the best out of Cesc this season and surprisingly so as a sub/squad player. I think he starts again and will be behind much of the blues play is a dominant home win.
KDB
He started the season white-hot and after a disappointing season overall he is ending it strong.
Siggy
Brilliant fantasy player, becoming one of my all-time favourites. Swansea are safe and WBA have looked on the holidays more than other sides. He is due a goal.
Eden Hazard
Didn’t get a rest and that may make him a concern. If you have him in FPL you should gamble he starts
Christian Eriksen/Dele Alli/Son
Hull will have little answer to the movement of the spurs trio but they may have a thoughts to trying to set up a certain HurriKane. Eriksens rest midweek may make him the best pick of the three.
Phillipe Coutinho
The brilliant Brazilian may be Barca bound but he is a great captain choice in FPL and a point’s machine in Fantrax. Must have.
Joshua King
King has been the leagues premier goalscorer in recent weeks and Bournemouth may have to withstand a summer bid for him.
Daniel Sturridge
He isn’t a Klopp favourite it seems, largely as you cannot reply on the player to stay fit to raise a title bid. Perhaps looking likely to move on in the summer, Sturridge prays on weak opponents and has a really weak one this week in Boro.
Romelu Lukaku
Harry Kane has overtaken the big Belgium forward in the top goal scorer charts. With a rumored summer move happening Lukaku will want to go to his new home as defending golden boot winner.
Harry Kane
He is now odd’s on to win the golden boot and if Kane could pick a defence to play this weekend Hull’s would have been on the shortlist. He will score and maybe more than once again, you must have him.
Diego Costa
Likely to be his final game in a blues shirt and being a fan favourite it seems fitting he goes out with a bang. Being his final game he may even get pen duties.
Alexis Sanchez
With Arsenal needing to win, Sanchez will be the driving force for the Gunners. Very expensive in both FPL and Fantrax. If you don’t have him, I would leave alone in FPL, but it’s very hard not to go with him in Fantrax.
Gabriel Jesus/Kun
The young man from Brazil as settled straight into the City line up and the Premier League. The future of the blues is on a hot streak and can secure City a top four spot.
As for Kun I suspect this may possibly be his final game for the club. He may start, he may not but it would be typical Kun to end the season with a brace or hatty to tempt those with the money in the summer.
Who are you on for the final week of the season?
