We head to Old Trafford today to conclude the proceedings of gameweek 23. Manchester United vs Stoke is a tale of polarizing situations where the table is concerned, but make no mistake: both teams need a win badly.

Manchester United

It’s been a good weekend for United thus far: Chelsea were held to a draw, Manchester City finally lost a game, and Alexis Sanchez rumors are floating in the air. A win today takes them three points away from Liverpool and Chelsea, closing the gap ever so slightly between them and the table topping Citizens of Etihad. Mourinho has not beaten Stoke since he’s been in charge at United, and I suspect he would have a vested interest in getting that sorted out. Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones will surely be among the players fantasy managers will be hoping do well today.

Stoke City

Stoke are in the bottom three and without a manager until Paul Lambert takes over tomorrow, so a win is surely the prescription to lift the downtrodden spirits of the Potters. Home next week to Huddersfield will be more dire, but they would do well to remain unbeaten against Mourinho. Moritz Bauer, signed from Rubin Kazan may possibly make his debut at right back. What a welcome to the league it will be for him to face Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial.

My hopes for progress today will be pinned on Jesse Lingard. Who are you depending on to finish the game week friends?
