As the curtain drops on an enthralling 2017-18 football season, the most eagerly anticipated match is upon us. The wily veteran Real Madrid will try for an unprecedented 3rd consecutive Champions League win. To do this, the will have to go through an exciting Liverpool outfit that has shown they are capable of beating anyone. I simply can’t wait for this game!
Liverpool vs Real Madrid
Real Madrid may have faltered in their domestic league, but their European campaign was nothing short of exceptional. Against the odds they used every ounce of their pedigree and experience to maneuver their way to the final. By navigating difficult ties against the likes of PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich in the knockout rounds, Zinedine Zidane’s men showed a temperament, poise and know-how of champions. In Cristiano Ronaldo, they have the Champions League’s finest competitor and a rutheless champion.
Liverpool on the other hand are this year’s surprise package. Their fearless attack has fired them through the tournament to an unexpected place in the final. The likes of Porto, Manchester City and Roma have found the attacking trident of Salah, Mane and Firmino too hot to handle. Jurgen Klopp’s will enter today’s match as underdogs, but they have shown that they can beat anyone on any given day.
- GK: Navas
- DEF: Alexander-Arnold, Marcelo, van Dijk
- MID: Asensio, Kroos, Wijnaldum, Milner
- FWD: Salah, Ronaldo (c), Mane
- BENCH: Fabri, Can, Rui, Jorge
I’m throwing most of my chips behind Liverpool, banking on them to upset the 3-peat hopes of Real Madrid. I’ve done this by loading up on their attacking players. I’m also hedging a bit by gambling on Madrid’s young prodigy, Marco Asensio to have an impact on the final. It’s the last throw of the dice for me in what has been a forgettable fantasy league season.
