I need to lay down a minute... What a breathtaking opening weekend that was in the Premier League! Twenty five goals, lots of attacking football, and only two draws meant the season didn’t start in first gear but went straight to third. We still had eight clean sheets, and I know a few people feel even better about going with a back four.
Sixteen players were in double figures, none of whom were strikers. It may just be a coincidence, but at least half of those play on the left side, left backs like Benjamin Mendy and Jose Holebas, or left side attackers such as Sadio Mane or Richarlison.
Major fantasy incidents include Manchester United losing a clean sheet late (sorry David De Gea owners). Another was the Liverpool front three all being among the points — it will be a weekly talking point to check whether Roberto Firmino and Mane can keep up with Mohamed Salah. The final game of the weekend featured a surprise with Raheem Sterling in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven. Good luck choosing Manchester City players on a weekly basis.

In (Official FPL), “Tenn SC” managed by Johnny Megale leads us after the first game week. Congrats to you sir! Johnny managed 111 points thanks to a trio of left backs and a midfield featuring Salah, Richarlison, Mane, and Ryan Fraser. Joining him in the top three are British Connection and Kahoaboys. I amassed 76 points thanks to captain Salah and huge totals from Mendy and Mane.
In Fantrax’s Never Manage Alone league, Team Rice had his fill to the tune of 178 points. Ball Out Boyz took position two with 164 and Team sokaik80 is third with 160. Special shout out goes to blogger Stall in position five with 153 points.
In Fantrax’s NMA + Bench league, Romain Grosjean hauled in 151 points to lead the way, followed closely by OKIES and JARED’S TOPPLETHEKING SAINTS tied for 2nd at 148.
