Manchester City’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool yesterday cut the gap between them to just 4 points, ensuring that the race for the league title will remain white-hot. As Pep Guardiola said afterwards, “We knew that if we won, we would be in contention to fight for the Premier League; if we lose, it is over.”
Certainly Pep was pleased with his team’s result this week, but were you happy with yours? Let’s have a look at how this week’s top fantasy teams performed, and you can benchmark yourself against the best in the business.
Official FPL: Never Manage Alone BTB League
King spartacus CF won the Game Week 21 crown, racking up a staggering 103 points through strong performances from Ricardo Pereira (12), Marcos Alonso (8), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (6), Heung-Min Son (13), Ryan Fraser (12), Leroy Sané (10), Callum Wilson (6), Jamie Vardy (8), and captain Harry Kane (12 x 2). Brett’s XI came in second with 97, and team aku 2019 was third with 90.
On the season, FC Brent tops the BTB pile with 1379 points. Just below him are Voice and The One, each with 1368 points.
Fantrax: Never Manage Alone League
Our own blog staff member Team stallexpress was the game-week 21 winner in the 11-man NMA league. He registered 130 points, with huge contributions from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (21), Son Heung-Min (19), and Harry Kane (15). Stall was also the only manager in this week’s top 4 to select Marko Arnautovic — a prescient call that netted him 25 points. Behind Stall were Team Captaingerrard with 137 points and Team DevilinRed with 117.
Overall, 請你食頹飯 sits atop the leader board with an even 2200 points. But the competition for the summit is tight, with JenJen11 trailing by a mere 4 points, and Team stallexpress adrift by only 6.
Fantrax: NMA + Bench League
SUNSEEKER posted the top GW-21 score in the Fantrax 17-man league with 140 points, besting OAKIES by 3 points, Stats&Luck by 4. The week’s winner got nice returns from David De Gea (16), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (21), Son Heung-Min (19), Harry Kane (15), and Leroy Sané (15), with Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Eden Hazard also posting double-digit returns.
Year to date, Sir Boy United FC (owned by frequent NMA commenter Baihaqi) sits at the top of the +Bench league heap on 2733 points, with Team c444si in second with 2717, and Stats&Luck in third with 2679.
Now that you know how Never Manage Alone’s black belts did this week, how do your scores stack up? Please post your results in the comments below, and let us know what transfer moves you are making ahead of the upcoming game week.
Also: Don’t forget to look ahead at upcoming UK weather when the next deadline approaches. This is the time of year when games get postponed by ice and snow (even a little left over can make the venue “unsafe” for fans to attend). Don’t be the fantasy manager with all his eggs in a P-P match!
