Health is the main topic of discussion in FPL circles this week friends. Injuries to highly owned players and the resulting impact on our mental health has caused distress to many in the past few days. How have you reacted to these recent happenings? Some would have made immediate transfers; others will wait until closer to the deadline to make transfers, and some will stand still and wait for injuries to clear.
Sergio Aguero and Tammy Abraham owners will be the ones most impacted. Abraham currently sits in just over 46% of teams at the time of writing, and Aguero has seen ownership drop to 15%. The likes of Jamie Vardy, Marcus Rashford, Raul Jiménez, Harry Kane and others are the replacement options available. I went with Kane to replace Abraham, but a case can be made for the other forwards named. For managers may have already made a transfer before the Chelsea striker picked up a hip injury in the Champions League, he should not miss much time based on reports. Will those who have him in their squads choose to hold him until the next game week, which is midweek with only a short time to improve, or is a points hit on the agenda?
Major news was announced on Friday morning by Arsenal, Unai Emery was relieved of his duties as manager of the north London club. He will be replaced in the interim by Freddie Ljungberg, his impact on the fortunes of the Gunners assets will be closely observed. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang owners like myself will hope for a resurgence in his goalscoring exploits, along with a solidification of the back line to help with clean sheets.
This leads us to the final talking point ahead of week fourteen: Who will be the next manager on the chopping block? Will Arsenal also be responsible for Norwich manager Daniel Farke joining Emery on the unemployment line? Are Watford ready to call time on Quique Sanchez Flores for a second time? And how much more time does Ralph Hassenhuttl have at Southampton?
