Our Christmas Turkey is barely cold, and yet we already move into our second post-Christmas game-week. With our stomachs full and tryptophan comas kicking in, let’s put our feet up. NMA is here to guide you and make sure to bring in the New Year with a bang.
Defenders
Dallas 4.7m Leeds: For the value to point ratio, only Bednarak at the same price has more points than the Leeds man. Dallas operates as a midfielder with a keen eye for the back of the net.
Aurier 5.2m Tottenham: He may give away a penalty and seems to be a lightning rod for criticism, but he’s willing to go upfield to assist the free-flowing Tottenham strike force. With favorable fixtures, he could be a great pick if he can get the minutes.
FPL managers have been so engrossed with the exploits of Spurs’ dynamic duo (Kane and Son) that barely anyone has bothered to look at Tottenham’s defence, especially with Jose at the helm, well known for his defensive set up. Spurs have conceded near the fewest goals and kept five clean sheets only 2 less than the team with the most clean sheets (Aston villa with 7).
Robertson 7.3m Liverpool: He along with Trent is the most expensive defenders in Fpl but most great things have heavy price tags. The Flying Scotsman is an assist machine along with the potential of clean sheets due to the fixture against Newcastle who is having major problems in the scoring department.
Midfield
Salah 12.2m Liverpool: The Liverpool star only needed 20 minutes to damage Crystal Palace with 2 goals and an assist like many Fpl managers we are rubbing our hands thinking what he can do in 90 minutes against Newcastle. Salah is like a Michael Bay directed movie; at any point of the film you manage to stumble upon it will be action packed.
More notably, Salah’s long-term appeal stretches beyond Sunday’s trip to Newcastle as the Reds go on to play Southampton, though he does blank in game week 18 he has a double game week in week 19.
Captain pick
Son 9.7m Tottenham: The jewel in the crown of Tottenham is a must FPL asset because his upcoming fixtures from week 16 to 19 are favourable and have a high ceiling potential and even alternative captain picks to help climb your mini leagues.
Ward Prowse 6.3 Southampton: Dead ball specialist with Ings potentially out, penalty duties will be handed to the young Englishman. JWP will play every minute as one of two central midfielders responsible for initiating Southampton’s attack.
Strikers
Kane 10.9m Tottenham: Spurs face Fulham FC, so I can see Jose’s men smelling blood. Kane 2.0 doesn’t just score goals but also creates opportunities, which can rack up the points. He is my second choice captain and can be used as a differential captain pick.
Bamford 6.3m Leeds: The free-flowing machine that is Leeds certainly creates a lot of chances, and this can prove fruitful for our man. Leeds will have West Brom on the back foot, forcing them to defend closer to the goalmouth, which plays into Bamford’s strength.
Vardy 10.2 Leicester: Vardy is practically fixture proof, just give him a Red Bull and watch your points tally gain wings.
