TUESDAY

RB Leipzig v. Tottenham

Leipzig took the first leg 1-0 in London over last year’s runners-up courtesy of a Timo Werner penalty kick conversion and will now look to take care of business back in Germany. Adding injury to insult, Spurs’ attacking end will be even more short-handed as January transfer addition Stephen Bergwijn just joined Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Moussa Sissoko on the trainer’s table.

Valencia v. Atalanta

Atalanta cruised 4-1 in the opener in Italy thanks to a brace from Jaume Domenech plus goals from Josip Ilisic and Remo Freuler, while Valencia’s Denis Cheryshev kept the visitors from suffering a clean sheet. WEDNESDAY

Paris Saint-Germain v. Borussia Dortmund

We were expecting fireworks from the first leg in Germany, and while the match may not have been quite as high scoring as hoped, Erling Braut Haaland delivered with a brilliant brace. Crucially, Neymar aided PSG’s hopes of advancing to the next round with an away goal in the 2-1 defeat. Now the action comes to France, but defender Thomas Meunier and midfielder Marco Verratti are suspended due to yellow card accumulation, while star forward Kylian Mbappe is doubtful with illness. This game will also be played behind closed doors due to COVID-19 fear [Source: BBC].

Liverpool v. Atletico Madrid

Atletico took an early lead from Saul Niguez, and Diego Simeone’s stout defense delivered a 1-0 win in Spain over the reigning champions. Liverpool will now enjoy the support of the Anfield faithful for the second leg as the Reds’ offense looks to get back on track, but the EPL juggernaut will be without injured star goalkeeper Alisson Becker, with Adrian filling in.
