It may have been a month since the last EPL & Champions League games were played, however, the news certainly hasn’t stopped. Here are the latest headlines:

English Premier League Suspended
Unsurprisingly, the original target of resuming the EPL on the 30th April has now formally been scrapped, with the league suspended until further notice; it will resume only once it is “safe and appropriate”.
Along with this, the FIFA summer transfer window will be moved.

Champions League & Europa League Suspended
UEFA suspend the Champions League & Europa League until further notice, with possible abandonment if the coronavirus restrictions continue into September.
There has been talk of a potential mini-tournament to conclude these these competitions, in order to alleviate fixture congestion in the respective domestic leagues; with the domestic leagues deemed priority over European competitions.

Pep Guardiola’s mother dies after contracting coronavirus
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s mother, Dolors Sala Carrio, has sadly passed away, aged 82 in Barcelona after contracting coronavirus. Pep Guardiola has previously donated €1m euros to fight the virus, along with many others in the footballing world.

Tajikistan’s Football League Kicks off
Coronavirus seems to have shut down the whole footballing world, with the exception of a handful of nations; with the Tajik Higher Football League having kicked off on Sunday. As a precaution, the games are being played behind closed doors. With the absence of football elsewhere, Tajikistan’s Football Federation are hoping to attract interest in their league.
