Fantrax EPL GW-10 Player Picks

GW-9 was eventful, with some huge scores. How many players will feature in these picks?

Multiple hattricks, northwest derby thrashings, red cards, 7-0 drubbings... Let’s face it, last game-week will be hard to top. We should remain hopeful however, especially with the league as tight as it is. It’s unsurprising to see some of the stars from GW-9 feature in our picks, however there are some other key options to consider.

[ Our one early game of the week is Leicester hosting Arsenal, so those are the two confirmed lineups we should see in the countdown hour before our deadline. Come back to NMA for our Pre-deadline & Live Chat to see those and other late breaking news! ]

Goalkeepers

Illan Meslier (NOR vs LEE, $12.12) Meslier hasn’t been too used to clean-sheets so far this season, picking up just the one so far, but a fixture against lackluster Norwich is probably his best chance of picking up another. Norwich has scored only two goals all season, coming into this one after a miserable 7-0 defeat.

~

Ederson (MCI vs CRY, $14.52) Ederson is priced well enough compared to other goalkeeping options in the game. Man City has a home fixture and offer one of the best potentials for a clean-sheet this weekend, especially when you consider that the Citizens have conceded only four goals in the league this season.

Defenders

Maxwel Cornet (BUR vs BRE, $6.96) Cornet has been playing at forward but can be slotted into one of your defensive positions in Fantrax, which is great news after seeing his brace last game-week against Southampton. Cornet is cheap and is at home against a Brentford side that comes into this one on the back of a couple of losses.

~

Ben Chilwell (NEW vs CHE, $9.92) Chilwell makes our picks once more. He’s still well-priced and now seems to be in favor for the left-back spot in Tuchel’s side. He got on the score-sheet once more and is in a Chelsea side that does not look like slowing down anytime soon. His stock will surely rise.

~

Diego Llorente (NOR vs LEE, $5.52) Llorente gets in because he’s up against bottom of the table Norwich. Llorente offers decent value, the obvious clean-sheet potential and has scored in recent weeks. He’s definitely worth a one-week punt if you can find room for him.

Midfielders

Mason Mount (NEW vs CHE, $14.64) It’s hard to not include Mount in this week’s picks after his stunning hattrick in the romp over Norwich. His price is a lot cheaper than some of the other premium picks in the game (and was cheaper still if you grabbed him before prices recalculated) and he’ll be full of confidence after his last outing. He’s too hard to drop after that, especially facing Newcastle with Lukaku and Werner out right now.

~

Bernardo Silva (MCI vs CRY, $10.81) Silva is going about his business quietly so far, but people are starting to notice his performances more and more. He’s in Pep’s good books at the moment and has played 90 minutes for the last four league games. Silva picked up an assist last time out, making it two goals plus two assists so far this season.

~

Rodrigo (NOR vs LEE, $7.61) In Bamford’s absence, Rodrigo looks set to continue in the main striker role for Leeds, which is great for Fantrax owners as he can be slotted in as a cheap midfielder. Rodrigo scored in the draw with Wolves and now faces a poor Norwich side that shipped seven last time out.

~

Emile Smith-Rowe (LEI vs ARS, $9.56) The Arsenal youngster put in a MOTM performance against Aston Villa, with a goal plus an assist. He’s priced reasonably at the moment and looks like one of the first names on Arteta’s team-sheet, especially with the lack of European football for the Gunners.

Forwards

Harry Kane (TOT vs MUN, $15.15) Kane is certainly lacking at the moment, but this may be a good time to bring him in, should he start returning to form. Kane got off the mark in the league a couple of weeks ago, but then blanked against West Ham. Still, he went close on a few occasions. Kane has a great record and shouldn’t be discounted, especially against a Man Utd side who will be licking their wounds after the thrashing at the hands of Liverpool. This could be a great opportunity for Kane to get going again.

~

Diogo Jota (LIV vs BRI, $11.53) Salah is of course the main man at Liverpool, proving it with his hattrick. However he comes at a huge price tag. Jota is priced a lot cheaper and still has a high-ceiling, shown with a goal plus an assist against Man United last time out. He’s on four goals plus an assist in the league so far this season.

~

Joshua King (WAT vs SOU, $6.13) Salah and Mount may have received most of the plaudits last game-week, but Josh King caught the eye of managers. He offers fantastic value at the price and faces a Southampton side that shipped a couple of goals against lowly Burnley.

What do you think of my picks for this week? Are you swayed by the big scorers from last week? Will they strike again this week? Let us know in the comments!
