EPL DGW-26: Rate My Teams

Lots of double games means lots of choices! What do you think of mine?

With five double-gamers in my starting lineup I felt okay about last week’s team. But neither Southampton player produced, which I suppose really shouldn’t surprise me, though I’d been hoping for more. Dallas continues his excellent run of form, and Bamford, after being average in game one, bounced back mid-week.

Bruno was Bruno.

Here’s where I stand overall. My goal this season was to learn to the format of the game, and I think I’m getting as I go. Still not great and much room for improvement.

Week 26 Team

With seven extra matches this week, I’m fielding nine doubles after using two transfers (at -4 for one hit) for Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ollie Watkins (at the expense of single-gamers Danny Ings and Patrick Bamford)

I keep wondering if it’s time to use my next wildcard. I feel like with nine doubles, this isn’t the week.

My decision now is whom to captain. My initial thinking was DCL; I like Everton’s matchups, and his form continues to improve from his injury. Next I thought Sterling, who also has been in form for the best team in the league. But... Bruno is Bruno. So unless you can talk me out of it in the comments, he’s got the armband.

Fantrax NMA-11

This is the 5th team I’ve had since I started working on it for the week. I’m all over the place.

Ederson at $4.00 has been my best choice of the year.

I’m loving Ricardo Pereira in my back line, but I’m definitely taking risks with Stones and Alonso. Stones will stay, but Alonso might move.

At that price, I think I’m sticking with Grealish even this late in the season. I’m hoping he gets the 2nd game of the DGW and then pays me back when Villa makes up its other game in hand.

I have had James Maddison until this last version, and if he’s healthy I’m possibly moving someone out for him. He’s been consistently excellent.

Gundogan, Sterling, and Richarlison offer good value and opportunities for big games. I don’t see them changing.

Then there is Salah... if he doesn’t score then he really isn’t putting up points. But then again, he is the leading goal scorer in the league.

The early match is Manchester City hosting West Ham, so I can see Pep’s confirmed rotation for once (though the 2nd match of the DGW remains a risk), so there may be some last-minute tinkering here.
