Rate My Teams: FPL & Fantrax GW-1

The Premier League is back and GW-1 is upon us. I have put together my teams in both FPL & Fantrax, although I should say there are still key decisions to be made, so last-minute changes could still feature!

Chelsea’s latest signing Romelu Lukaku is now in the FPL game at £11.5M and currently priced reasonably across Fantrax. Unfortunately, his addition to Thomas Tuchel’s squad comes too late for him to be involved this weekend, or he’d have featured in both of my Fantrax sides!

Cheap forwards are the order of the day, with three premium midfielders selected already. I currently have 1.0M in the bank, so I could well bring in Aston Villa’s Ings for either Antonio or Wilson (who both have decent early fixtures). I think Ivan Toney could reach double-digit goals this season, so he currently earns a place in my side. Naming Liverpool’s Salah as my captain away to Norwich doesn’t need explaining. The big dilemma is the absence of TAA: I would likely need to downgrade Bruno Fernandes to a cheaper Man United asset in order to upgrade Everton’s Digne.

Fantrax NMA-11

I managed to save some money by going with David De Gea, who looks like he will start the season due to Henderson’s ongoing struggle to recover from COVID. Havertz makes his way into the side, with Lukaku out of contention for the first game. Dele Alli offers a cheap Tottenham attacking option, whilst Benrahma has been in strong form for the Hammers during preseason.

Fantrax NMA-17

I’ve included similar players in my NMA-17 side, such as Van Dijk who looks to offer great value. Here I’ve also gone for Raul Jimenez as a cheap forward option, although it’ll be interesting to see if he is the same player now as before that nasty skull fracture last season.
