Champions League MD-1 Rate My Team

The Champions League is finally back

The Champions League is back. How much we’ve all missed its anthem, which brings goosebumps all over our bodies. Well it’s not just UCL that’s back — there’s also UCL Fantasy, which has managers deciding whom to buy and whom to leave out.

The is my second year of playing, but to be honest with you, I didn’t take my first year seriously as most of my friends weren’t so keen on it like FPL. As we all know, the success or failure of a fantasy team depends largely on the level of selection of the squad for MD-1, which brings me to today’s task.

I have selected a group of players I believe are best placed to navigate through the group stage, but my lack of experience might work against me. Therefore, I will depend on your input in the comments to help me pick the best possible team for MD-1.

Without further ado, here’s what my team looks like, displayed by price, fixture and date:

Premium forwards are the order of the day, with three slightly average midfielders selected to enable them. Two of the greatest to ever play the game, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi both face somewhat easy fixtures in MD-1 as their teams come up against Young Boys and Club Brugge. My decision to select Messi ahead of Mbappe is because Messi is fully rested for this fixture. Ajax talisman Dusan Tadic completes my star-studded attack line.

In midfield I selected a more grounded squad: Paul Pogba, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ferran Torres and Erik Lamela. All the midfielders on my roster are capable of scoring a goal or two when provided with chances.

My defense is slightly attack-minded, Benjamin Pavard, Rapheal Guerreiro and Marcos Alonso tending to spend much of their time in the opponents’ half.

As I confessed earlier, I’m slightly new to Champions League Fantasy, so I will watch the comment section for your opinion and suggestions on how I can improve my team.
