Newcastle Release Gutierrez and Taylor

18

After returning from lengthy layoffs with cancer and injuries, respectively, both Jonas Gutierrez and Ryan Taylor played their part in Newcastle United's survival in the Premier League this season. Now, less than a week after the duo helped the Magpies secure a spot in England's top flight for the 2015-2016 season, they have been told they are surplus to requirements at the club.

It can be argued that Newcastle need to strengthen their squad to better their chances of improving their Premier League position next season, but owner Mike Ashley could also be seen to be further damaging the reputation of the club by releasing two fan-favorites, one of whom made a triumphant return from cancer just a few weeks ago.

What do you think? Did Ashley make the right decision for Newcastle's future, or has he brought more bad publicity to a club already embroiled in a storm of negative media attention? Perhaps a bit of both? Weigh in with your thoughts!

Scott Sinclair Joins Aston Villa

1

After being labeled as one of England's brightest young talents following success at Wigan and West Bromwich Albion, Scott Sinclair has failed to break into the first team at Manchester City.

Aston Villa have now offered the winger a lifeline, taking him to Villa Park on loan for the rest of the season. He should have a good shot at claiming a starting role, and was a fantasy gold-mine during his time with The Baggies.

Currently available in the Yahoo! game for just a shade over £1m, Sinclair represents a bargain bench option at the very least, and could be a valuable spot-starter in your fantasy team.

Will you bring him into your team for Week 23, or wait to see whether he earns a starting role first?

Diego Costa 3-Match Ban Confirmed

22

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has lost the appeal submitted to the FA yesterday following the Violent Conduct charge levied against him following his stamp on Liverpool's Emre Can in the Capital One Cup semi-final.

The League's leading scorer will now miss at least 3 matches, including this weekend's crucial top-of-the-table clash with Manchester City.

Many fantasy managers hold Costa at around £5m in the Yahoo! game and will face a tough decision...keep or drop?

What will you do with your team? Will Didier Drogba come into your thinking moving forward?

Crystal Palace Sign Mutch, Ameobi

1

Former Cardiff City star man Jordon Mutch has put an end to his 6-month nightmare at QPR, signing for Crystal Palace today.

The Eagles also announced the signing of 33-year-old Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi, who will link back up with former manager Alan Pardew.

What do you think of the new arrivals? Will either be a regular starter and, if so, who will they replace in the starting lineup?
